Supporting Family Caregivers when the Diagnosis is Dementia Workshop

Hosted by USC Social Work Professional Development, this workshop is designed for social work professionals who want to increase their knowledge and skills related to clinical interventions and macro-level strategies and supports dedicated to family caregivers and their loved ones living with dementia.

 

In this workshop, you will learn about cognitive impairment and dementia and how they affect functioning in later life, the roles and tasks of family caregivers and how these impact caregivers’ functioning, and how to identify clinical and macro approaches to caregiver assessments, interventions, and supports.

Guest Speakers include:

Maria Aranda, PhD, MPA, MSW, LCSW : Professor of Social Work at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, Executive Director of the USC Edward R. Roybal Institute on Aging, and Lead of the Outreach, Recruitment and Engagement Core at the USC Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.

Kelley Macmillan, Ph.D., MSW : Associate Professor in Field Education in the Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work at the University of Southern California.
